一、gmat写作替换文章中的词组可以避免中式思维
1、Original: If we agree to say that school offers us the best book knowledge acquisition then our society offers us the best surviving techniques in a hard way.
Revised: If we agree that school offers the best method for the acquisition of book knowledge, then our society offers us the best method for acquiring common sense or “street smarts”.
Agree to say that表达中式化,只需要agree that即可;the best book knowledge acquisition改为the best method for the acquisition of book knowledge(学校给我们提供了获取书本知识的最好方法)更为恰当 ,同样后面的the best surviving techniques改为the best method for acquiring common sense,加上street marks(街头智慧)给文章的gmat词汇增添色彩。
2、Original: They can spend more time studying education and communication to improve their role as a mother, wife and daughter.
Revised: They can also decide to spend more time studying, education themselves, in order to improve themselves in their roles as mothers, wives and daughters.
原句中studying education and communication的说法中式化,不符合英语的表述,应该为studying,educating themselves。除了词语表达,此句中还存在其他问题,如名词单复数的使用:不是提高他们的角色,而是提高他们自身以扮演好母亲角色。
还有,女性不止一个人。很多人都在扮演母亲角色,role和mother应用复数,故将improve their role as a mother改为improve themselves in their roles as mother;同样,为保持一致,wife和daughter也可用复数,原文中wife的复数写法有误,应该是wives。
3、Original:If you can get the point of communication by watching TV,will you...?
Revised:If one can learn about communicating from television,will you...?
原句的get the point of communication by watching TV表达不清,让人难以理解,应该是指“从电视上学习交际”:learn about communicating from television.
二、gmat写作要善于利用范文,消化吸收从而避免中式思维

Job security and salary should be based on employee performance, not on years of service. Rewarding employees primarily for years of service discourages people from maintaining consistently high levels of productivity.

According to the author, job security and salary should be based on employee performance rather than on years of service. While I agree that the most productive employee should be given the best rewards, I tend to argue that years of service should still be regarded as an important factor in determining the employee's wages and other rewards.
Undeniably, the reward system based merely on years of service would do harm to not only the corporation's productivity but also the further development. To illustrate this point, there are two compelling arguments. On the one hand, under such incentive system, the complacent employees might gain good reward while providing mediocre productivity, only because of the relatively longer years that they have spent in the company. On the other hand, the company using such system could eventually become unattractive to the most ingenious and creative new employees, since they could only obtain less salary and job security than those older,but less effective and less hard-working employees. Consequently, the company would suffer a net loss of excellent work force and lose the competitive advantage in the market.
However, that is not to say, we should suggest that the company ignore the important factor - employee's years of service. The productive employees with longer years of service have (devoted) more time and energy to one company and therefore deserve more honor and more rewards. And they may even have joint the company when it was first established and (made) tremendous achievements for the company's development. If the company merely (focuses) on work performance and (ignores) these old (employees’) significant contribution, they will feel unfairly treated and (inadequately) valued by the company. Inevitably, the company would lose the most precious resource - the loyalty of the employee.
To work out a better rewarding system, the company should take into account both of the two factors discussed above. In other words, it should set several levels of reward according to the employee performance and add to each employee's reward suitable amount of salary and job security (based) on years of service.
In conclusion, neither the employees' performance nor their years of service in the corporation should be neglected in determining their job security and salary. In the final analysis, an effective solution would be to base such reward mainly on performance at work while taking the years of service into account.
